Job Opportunity - BDA 125th Year Co-ordinator

Hours: Full-time
Contract Period: Two Year Fixed Term
Location: Any BDA Office throughout UK

The British Deaf Association (BDA) is seeking for full time 125th Year Celebration coordinator to manage the BDA's 125th Year Planning project.

This will be a 2 year contract to cover preparation, planning, delivery and evaluation from September 2014 - August 2016.

The BDA 125th Year celebration starts from 24th July 2015 to 23rd July 2016. We already have a small working group focusing on the 125th Year Celebration so we need to find someone to work with the working group to:

  1. prepare, plan and establish one year celebration programme from July 2015 - July 2016
  2. work out costs, propose budgets, and manage agreed budgets
  3. organise and set up events in conjunction with BDA regional offices, Area Deaf Associations and BDAYouth
  4. liaise with local and regional Deaf groups to set up local celebration events
  5. liaise with CEO on the Mansion House 125th Year event in the presence of HRH The Duke of York
  6. work with BDA Communications team to promote and market the celebration events via website, Facebook, Twitter, British Deaf News and E-News
  7. liaise with fundraising to maximise donor engagement opportunities
  8. recruit required short term contract staff to assist major celebration events
  9. find suitable venues, negotiate costs (special packages, discounts for delegates/attendees)
  10. find sponsors to support the BDA's 125th Year events
  11. organise 125th Year working group meetings, write reports, action plans and 125th Year evaluation at the end in August 2016

  3. Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  4. Strong negotiation and persuasive skills
  5. Strong event marketing skills
