Director of Community Development and Operations Appointed

BDA Chair, Dr Terry Riley is pleased to announce, on behalf of the BDA Board, the appointment of Damian Barry as Director of Community Development and Operations.

Tasked with leading the BDA into the next phase of community development, Damian comes from a strong management and community development background, recently delivering several projects within Northern Ireland and Deaf Village Ireland.

Former CEO of Hearing Concern, Damian has also held the posts of Community Fundraising Manager for the British Red Cross and Director of Training and Operations with Friends For Young Deaf People, delivering the programme as far as New Zealand.

Dr Riley said: “Damian brings with him a wealth of knowledge, skills and expertise across management, training and fundraising, that will be enormously beneficial to the BDA.” 

Damian said: “I am looking forward to this next challenge in working with the BDA and helping the Deaf community achieve their vision. I also look forward to working alongside Director of Campaigns and Communication, David Buxton.

“Together we will make a formidable team and help bring the BDA back to the heart of the Deaf community.”
