Improving care for deaf patients - BSL Charter

Extract from the magazine:

Derbyshire Community Health Services NHS Foundation Trust has signed up to the British Deaf Association’s British Sign Language Charter to improve access to services for the local deaf community.

Signing up to the charter is just one way of us letting our service users who are deaf know of our commitment to working with the British Deaf Association on the five key pledges to improve access to services for, and promote the rights of people who are deaf.

The trust’s staff are being offered introductory British Sign Language and deaf awareness sessions to enable staff to feel more confident in meeting, greeting and communicating with members of the deaf community.
